Nemo Playground is Live!

Up and ready to go on the Nemo Music Festival website is their new, very blue, indie artist Playground.

NEMO Playground

One of the most exciting things about this playground in particular is it’s the first time we’ve used a product of ours that’s been in development for some time now. Global Music Link (GML) allows visitors to type in the name of their favorite artist or any “mainstream” (can I get a definition on aisle four?) artist who’s sound they like. What comes back are results that are similar…even though the artist you chose wasn’t in that particular music set. Sound confusing? Yeah, I’m struggling to describe it as simply as it is to use. But the basic gist is that it eliminates the “no results found” answer when you do a search. There’s always results found - everybody sounds like somebody.

We’re working out some of the kinks and have notes for how to make it even better as we go along. One of the things in particular would be to make the jump from search to results a little faster - currently you have to give us a bit more information about what album/track you mean when you search for an artist. In the case of the NEMO Playground, the intent is to make the results more accurate. We had one track per NEMO artist, which isn’t really a well rounded depiction of an artist’s style. So when someone searches for Coldplay, as an example, we’re looking to figure out what Coldplay song you were thinking of the most when you typed their name in the search box.

We’ll be there at the end of the month to talk to musicians who’d like to be involved in some of our new projects. I’m hoping we’ll also get some important feedback and input from these artists as to what they’d like to see and how online promotion of their music fits into their overall efforts to build their reputation and establish a career in music.
